Zäali is friendly and open with a family oriented even temperament. She is competitive in the show and performance rings, and a wonderful companion / family dog the rest of the time. Zäali is calm and adaptable, and approaches new experiences with curiosity and confidence. She is a true ambassador for her breed and always wins fans wherever she goes. She has an engaging expression, full of interest and intelligence.
She has represented lappies at the Dog Lovers’ Expo in Victoria most years, and is always a favourite, especially among the kids.
In the dog sports / performance ring Zäali quickly attained her Lure Coursing, Trick and Rally titles with qualifying passes at every outing. She attended a herding workshop at 12 months old, where she showed aptitude and a strong herding instinct true to her breed. She has attended a training course for Nosework where she quickly understood the 'game' and demonstrated good progression. Other accolades include Best Dog of the Day at a Sprint Dog mock trial run by the Saluki Club of Victoria, and the 2023 fastest lappie in Australia over 100m!
During the journey to her conformation Champion title, her show ring successes include multiple Best of Breed and Class in Group wins, and RU Bitch at Adelaide Royal in 2023, under an international breed specialist judge. The judge's comments included, “She is well proportioned and typey, just as a good lappie should be.” At the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria (FLCV) Specialty Show in 2024, she was given the highest grade of "Excellent / Champion Quality" on her judge's critique. Judging critiques at the FLCV Specialty Show each year have included comments such as, well boned, good topline and tailset, correct movement coming and going, attractive head, good rounded skull, strong muzzle, lovely pretty face, good dark eyes and rims, good feet and feathering. Judges at all breeds shows often express that she is a beautiful dog, with a pretty face.
Outside of these performances, she is a delight to live with - always up for an adventure, or a lazy afternoon on the couch.
