Our Puppies

Our Breeding Philosophy

We do not breed often and limit the number of litters that we produce to a couple a year. This is because our dogs are very much part of our family, so we invest a great deal of time, effort and love in each of our litters. We breed primarily to improve our lines and to assist in securing the future of Finnish Lapphunds in Australia, focusing on health, temperament, conformation and improving genetic diversity.

We have been involved in the breed since 2007 and, along with other dedicated breeders, have done much to support and encourage its development and sustainable growth in Australia. We work with fellow breeders here and overseas in expanding the breed’s diversity and have imported a number of dogs and semen to assist us with this. Unfortunately, a few issues have occurred within the breed in Australia in recent years that have had negative impacton breed health. We therefore have made the decision to import all new lines and are focusing on further expanding the genetic pool here in Australia.

We welcome new people who are interested in the breed and wish to know more about showing and/or dog sports. If you are interested in conformation showing in the breed we are more than happy to provide support and advice, and can provide some excellent contacts for those who may wish to look at activities such as herding.

Expression of Interest in a Taigakoira Pup

If you are interested in a Taigakoira puppy please contact us directly at finnishlapphunds@rocketmail.com.

We receive a great number of puppy inquiries so it is best to keep up to date with our litter plans via our rightpaws page and facebook pages (https://www.facebook.com/terri.macdonald.56). When we have a litter on the way, we call for expressions of interest - that is the best time to contact us about a puppy.

If we don’t have a litter on the way or have too many people on our wait list, we are happy to refer people to other reputable breeders.

We also encourage anyone who is interested in the breed to be involved with the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria - there is a facebook page that people can join at https://www.facebook.com/groups/theflcv/ and of course, the Club always welcomes new members!

We are excited to announce Zäali's long anticipated litter will be to the exciting up-and-comer, Sven.

Both these dogs have been recognised in the show ring with multiple Best of Breed and Class in Group wins. Sven received his Aust Champion title before he turned 1 year old. Along the way, he has been regularly shortlisted for Best in Group at all-breed shows, and won his class at the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria Specialty Show, 2025.  Both Zäali and Sven have received excellent critiques from international breed-specialist judges. Zäali has also shown prowess in the performance ring with multiple wins and titles.

We are expecting very special, people focused puppies who exude the renowned Taigakoira temperament and charm.
